How Vietnam On A Budget works

We help independent travellers spend smarter in Vietnam. Budget does not mean choosing the cheapest option; it means understanding the trade-offs between price, convenience, comfort, time, and experience.

How we research

  • We prioritise primary and official sources when they are the best source for a claim.
  • For prices, we distinguish official prices, observed prices, and estimates.
  • An observed price is evidence from a specific provider, place, date, and context. It is not a promise that every traveller will see the same price.
  • When a public price range is shown, we prefer multiple observations and explain the location, date, unit, and relevant context.
  • Airport, tourist-zone, holiday, peak-season, and last-minute pricing may be separated when they materially change the decision.
  • Facts that can change are rechecked. If evidence is stale or weak, we flag uncertainty instead of presenting it as current fact.

How we make recommendations

We recommend options based on traveller fit and value, not solely on price or affiliate commission. A commercial relationship does not automatically make a partner “best”. Sponsored placements, if any, are labelled clearly.

What we do not do

  • We do not invent local prices, schedules, availability, safety claims, review scores, or firsthand experience.
  • We do not use AI-generated images to imply that our team personally visited a place.
  • We do not present one price observation as a universal market price.

Price freshness

Travel prices can change by date, season, location, provider, booking channel, demand, and traveller circumstances. VOAB treats a price as an observation, not a universal truth.

For price-sensitive content we aim to show when the price was observed or last checked, the city or area, the item or service, the source where appropriate, the price and unit, and whether the figure is official, observed, or estimated.

Corrections

If you find an outdated or incorrect price, factual error, broken link, or material omission, email hello@vietnamonabudget.com. We review correction requests against the underlying source or evidence and update material errors when verified.

A correction does not mean every historical observation is deleted. We may preserve older evidence internally to understand price changes over time while updating the public-facing information.
